Here’s the thing – most of the template-based website platforms out there today are pretty great. I’m not here to compare or talk you out of using something other than Wix. I like Squarespace too (in fact, I might even offer my templates for Squarespace one day), and though I haven’t personally used Shopify, I’ve read a lot of great things about the platform.
That said, I’ve been using Wix personally, creating Wix websites for my clients, and selling Wix website templates for a little over 3 years. And I seriously couldn’t be happier with the platform. It’s intuitive, easy to use, and is just all around a wonderful base to create a stunning website.
For some reason, Wix has a bad rep. It’s probably because there were some problems with the platform years ago. But that’s no longer. I want to help change the reputation Wix has because it is truly an awesome platform that I will continuously recommend. I love it, my clients love it, and my template customers love it. I know you will too.
1 | Wix gives you total design freedom.
This is the #1 reason I love Wix so much. There are countless other reasons to use the platform, but the design freedom it gives you is just amazing. Whatever idea you have in mind for your website, you can make it happen with Wix.
The best part is that it’s super easy to create or alter a design. Wix has drag and drop options, one-click add-ons, and a user-friendly interface that any DIYer can figure out. You can even add animation, an online shop, and many other additional functionalities.
You truly can’t find this level of design freedom with any other platform, unless you are custom coding your site.
2 | Wix has a built-in SEO wiz.
I believe that part of the reason Wix had a bad reputation in the past was due to their SEO. Any and all issues with that have been fixed and they even offer an SEO wiz to help you get your SEO setup and connected to Google immediately.
If you’re new to SEO, Wix is definitely for you. Besides keyword research that’s particular to your business, there's no outside research you have to do – it’s all right there within Wix.
3 | Beautiful designer templates are available for Wix.
If there’s anything I’ve learned being an entrepreneur, it’s that you can’t do everything yourself. And that it’s better to outsource things that aren’t in your zone of genius. For instance, creating a website is a huge deal for your business but something that you might not have the time, or patience, to do yourself.
It costs upward of $2,000 to hire someone to design a website for you – especially one that matches the quality of your business. That just might not be feasible for you. And even though Wix is super easy to use, you still might not want to design your site yourself. Plus, it’s better to spend your time focusing on the things you love doing.
Another great thing about Wix is that professional designers sell website templates you can purchase and customize to match your business. They’re affordable (usually in the $100-$150 price range), will look custom-made for you, and match the quality of your business.
4 | Wix provides excellent marketing tools to get you started.
Marketing is one of the most stressful things as an entrepreneur – at least it is to me! There’s a lot of research that goes into great marketing, especially when it comes to the systems you should use (as there are so many to choose from).
What’s great about Wix is that there are built in (free) marketing tools for you to use to get started. Email marketing, social posts, coupons, analytics, and more – it’s all there.
Now, the tools Wix offers might not be the tools you use as your business grows, but if you need something to get you started, Wix is definitely your all-in-one solution.
5 | Wix allows for total customization.
Yep, this one is similar to #1, but worth mentioning on its own. Whether you’re using a Wix template or a designer template, you can completely customize your site. You can add in specific colors and fonts, change headings and alter sizes.
Wix allows you to easily swap out photos, add videos, connect your social media, and more - you can literally customize almost everything on your site.
Well, there you have it! There’s my honest opinion of why I think you should use Wix for your business. It’s a platform that has saved me so much time over the years, and I want to share it with as many entrepreneurs as possible.
